Editor-in-Chief's Message

Automatica first appeared in 1963 and became a journal of IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic Control, in 1968. It is one of the world's leading scientific journals in the field of automatic control, with a characteristic blend of theoretical and applied papers of archival, lasting value, reporting cutting edge research results, by authors across the globe. It features articles in distinct categories, including regular, brief, survey, and position papers, technical communiqués (as rapid publications), correspondence items, as well as reviews on published books and new software of interest to the readership.

IFAC is a federation of national member organizations, and hence has no individual members. For this reason, a subscription to Automatica is not linked to membership of IFAC. Individuals may subscribe to Automatica at a reduced rate but only if the library at their university or employer subscribes to Automatica.

Automatica is interested in papers in all areas of automatic control, interpreted in a broad sense. They may be submitted directly to the subject editors as described in the information for authors.
